Gitoro Conference Centre

Founded on 8 December 1955 in the Diocese of Meru by its first bishop, Monsignor Lawrence Victor Bessone, this congregation still operates and runs various educational and social projects.

The structure guarantees a high level of security thanks to the perimeter masonry fence, while offering ample green spaces, ideal for our afternoon language activities and for leisure time: pool, table tennis, badminton, mancala and much more.

Accommodation comprises single and double rooms for participants, as well as an in-house canteen. Through the common areas, in the evening the young women and men can relax independently or engage in get-together moments around the fire, with debates in English or watching movies in English in the spacious TV room provided by the centre.

The stay includes a full board service including traditional Kenyan tea with milk served at 10:00 am and 04:00 pm, as per local custom.

Meru Children’s home

Meru Children's home is an orphanage near the town of Meru, Kenya. It is run by nuns who welcome orphans or children from situations of great distress, offering them food, shelter, education and healthcare. The facility is a fundamental resource for many children who would otherwise not have access to healthcare, protection and education. There is much more to sharing your time with the children at Meru children’s Home than just supporting their growth. As a matter of fact, it is also about living a unique personal and human enrichment experience based on values of solidarity, care, and hope for the future. Among our activities, we will devote time to the children and teenagers of the orphanage, some of whom are the age of our young ones. We will prepare before the trip with playful activities to engage the children according to the skills and talent of our participants. Moreover, before departure we will organise with materials to donate to the facility, especially educational materials and games. For years, our friends at Via Etica Ets and Il Volo di Pietro have been supporting Meru children’s Home with healthcare, masonry, scholarships, self-sustaining projects, wells and much more. Among our goals, we would like our children to be direct witnesses to some of the difficulties faced by their peers and possibly be actively involved in supporting others, regardless of how distant from our daily lives it may be.
